Reflection of assignment
Building
a racing car
Members-Noshen,
Fahreen, Jackson & Jessy
Time given-
50 minutes
Assignment-we
had to build a car which a run faster than the opponent car. It was also about
negotiation.
1) How well did each member contribute and how? (All names including
myself).
Explanation:-
Each member of the group tried to
work together and negotiate with other groups. All the group members tried to
accomplish their won job properly. Every member was assigned with a specific job and most of the job was accomplished
properly.

Jackson:- Jackson was the
manager of the group. His main job was to find the parts that we need for
building our car with as low price as possible. He also had to sell the part
that we didn’t need. He contributed well in his job but sometimes he wasted
some money buying parts that we didn’t need.
Fahreen:- Fahreen was the time
management person in our group. She distributed the time into four sections.
Planning(5min)
Building(30min) Testing(10min) Emergency(5min)
Our plan was to
follow the plan and finish the task by the routine time. Fahreen kept reminding
the group members about the time and tried to make sure that everything is
finished by the time. But unfortunately after we started building, we wasted
most of our time for negotiating and changing our plan. That is why our team
had less time for building. But we still handed in our assignment by the due
time.
Noshen:- I was a builder and
also the planner. I planned the design of the car and as we started building we
had to change certain parts of the plan. Everybody in the group had some ideas
about the car and when we also had change some plans because we could not some
parts we wanted to use. I also helped for negotiating with other groups and
tried to make some good deals.
Jessy:- Jessy was the main
builder of our team. She tried her best make it work. She was very calm and
used the time properly. Although we got stuck for setting the engine in the
proper way. She tried her best till the last minute to build it proper but we
couldn’t make it.
2)
Why you won or lost?
Explanation:- Our group had not a
good structure. That was the main reason for us to lose. We took long time for
coming up with an idea and when we had and when we finally started building we
had to change a lot of parts from our plan. Another reason was we focused more
in negotiating than building. We should have focused more in building the car
from the beginning of the task and work more co operatively with the group.
3) What can you improve?
Explanation:- There was a lot of improvement that
are needed for our group. The first step that we should take is to be more
focused on building than negotiating. We also have to ask our group members
before selling or buying any parts. So, that we wouldn't have wasted our money
on buying something that we don’t need. We have to more punctual, organized and
co operative with our group members to be able to success in any assignment.
4) Principles of
negotiation.
Explanation:- For being successful in negotiating,
we have to follow the principles of negotiation. They are-
·
Defining what we need for a certain job. ( In this project we
defined what we need for building our car before we started buying anything)
·
Understanding your own budget and target’s motivation. (Our
plan was not to waste too much money for any product and we also tried to sell
the parts we didn’t need.)
·
Create a relationship. (Whenever we sold something to any
other group we tried to be very nice and welcoming to them so, they come back
to us for making more deals and we also tried to have a good relationship with
the people from whom we bought some parts)

Negotiation (Auction Hunter)
Auction Hunter
Episode-105: the real thing
(Interaction with a
dealer-selling a coke machine)
1. What were they trying to sell to who?
Ton
and Ellen found the 1st upright Coke vending machine. It was the real coke
vending machine. It was good as new and well painted.
They
took it to a person named Dennis who is an Antique Expert. He has a lot of
experience with coke machines. So, he is a good dealer who would understand the
value of the object and may also be interested in it.
. 2.
What were the
opening bids for both side?
The
opening bid for the buyer was $2000 and the opening bid for the seller was $4800.
But the buyer was not aiming for that high, so the seller brought it a little
lower for making a good deal. Their next bid was $2100(from the buyer) and $2600(from
the seller). Then the sellers convinced the buyer with $2500.
3.
Name three
things you off of observing the body language during negotiation.
a)
While they were negotiating, they tried to establish their point in a very
gentle way and listened to the buyer attentively while he was talking.
b)
They reacted by listening to the bids from the buyer.
c) They congratulated the buyer in the end and shook hands.
4.
Identify any negotiation
strategy.
The
strategy of the seller in this deal was some sweet and convincing conversation
and they also started with high price with the intention of bringing it down. This
way the buyer felt more comfortable with the deal.
5.
In your opinion,
who got the best out of this negotiation?
In
my opinion I think the sellers had the best out of this negotiation. Because they
sold the coke machine by a good price and they also earned they buyer’s
satisfaction. They earned more than triple amount of money than they bought the
storage for. So, they had a very good profit.

Aninda:-Aninda was
the designer of the tower. Everybody had some ideas about the structure. But
Aninda took all the ideas together and then modified them. By planning the
structure before building the tower was very helpful and it helped us to work
more organized. As we started building
the tower, we had to change the plan about certain sections. Then she drew the
plan in a big piece of paper. She also helped building the tower.
Noshen:- I was the
main builder of the tower. I built most of the tower and gave it a strong base.
I made the tower solid so, it could protect itself from attacks. I made the
tower long by adding blocks so, it was easy to make it tall faster.
Katrina:- Katrina
was the time management person. Her job was to keep
reminding the builder about the time and make sure that all the jobs are completed
by the deadline. For making it more organized, she divided up the time into
four different sections.
Planning(5min) Building(25min) Testing(10min) Emergency(5min)
In the beginning she
made sure to follow the plan but while we started building, she got more involved
for building than retaining the time. Although we were done before time, we got
late from handing in our tower.
Nashita:- Nashita was the material person and she was
very rapid for bringing the right material. She always picked the right
material. Therefore, we didn’t have to waste any of the materials.
2) Why you won or lost?
Explanation:-
Our group had a really strong structure with a moderate height but the main
reason for our team to lose was our time management and organization. Our group
was late to hand in the tower. Besides that, we had a very good chance of winning.
3) What
can you improve?
Explanation:- The main improvement needed for our team is time
management because, that was the main reason for our team for losing. We had a
very strong structured tower which was also tall. For being successful in the
future, we have to be swifter and more organized.

She was very alert about the deadline and kept reminding
the members too. She assured that the jobs are finished by the routine time.
She helped the group to finish the tasks by the limited time.
Noshen-
I was the material delivery person and I delivered all the needed materials for
the task. I was very rapid about bringing materials and I always assured to
pick the right material. I never picked more than we needed so we did not have
to waste any of the material.
Simron-
Simron was the organizer of the group and planned the sequences of the task and
she also drew some diagram which was very helpful for the construction. She
also helped building the tower.
Jessy- Jessy was
the main builder of the project who built most of the tower and assured that
the tower is strong enough to tolerate any kind of forces. She made a strong
base which helped the tower to stand strong.
2)
Why you won
or lost?
Explanation:- our group had a very strong and solid tower.
But the main reason for losing for our team was, that we did not have a very
tall tower.
The task of the assignment was to build the tallest and the
strongest tower who can hold a certain object safely. But as there was other
groups having taller towers, we were not able to win the competition.

Jung Typology Test
Jung typology test

ISTJ
Introvert(33%) Sensing(1%) Thinking(50%) Judging(44%)
Introvert(33%) Sensing(1%) Thinking(50%) Judging(44%)
My
four letter personality type was ISTJ. That explains I have moderate preference of Introversion over
Extraversion, marginal or no preference of Sensing over Intuition, moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling
and moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving.
I believe I am not such a person who is extra sensitive but I consider myself
moderate preference of sensing over intuition. I accept as true that I am an
introvert and quiet girl. I am also a thinker. There is a saying, “Think before you ink”. I always think
before taking any important decision about my life. But I believe I am not a
judgmental person. I specially don’t judge
something knowing just a single story. I believe nothing in this world can be
perfect. Overall I agree with most of the results from the test. But I also
disagree at some points.
The Jung Typology Test also suggested
some interesting career links. They are-

Legal and law enforcement

|
Most
of the career links seem very interesting to me and in the same time, some of
them are surprising for me. The whole technical part is interesting for me and
also connects with my future plan. I also have some interest in management
field but the sport coaching link surprises me because sport is my weakest
area. The health care careers also seems quite interesting to me but the part
that surprises me most is Legal and law enforcement. I never had much interest
about law or military training and the reason behind this is, I am neither a
physically fit persons nor a very social person.
I
learned from this survey that, I have a personality which is very introvert and
also a bit insensitive. These weaknesses can affect my future in a bad way. I
should try my best to become friendlier and extrovert. I also learned that
physical weakness can take away a lot of career options. Therefore I should
also try to be more active and physically fit.
I
think this is an effective survey for people to know themselves. It helps us to
improve our weaknesses and also prepare for future. But I also believe nothing
can be gained without hard work and patient.
